Red Seal is Canada's national standard for the skilled trades. For a Pakistani electrician, welder, or plumber, it is the most recognised way into Canada on the strength of your trade rather than a degree, and it usually ends in permanent residency.

Overview
The program is administered by the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship alongside the provincial and territorial authorities. Where a trade carries Red Seal endorsement, the credential is recognised across provincial lines, so you can move without getting re-licensed each time.
If you trained outside Canada, the route runs through a provincial trade authority. They assess your foreign credentials, often require gap training or supervised hours, and then clear you to challenge the Inter-Provincial Standards Examination, known as the Red Seal exam. We map that sequence while you are still in Pakistan, including which provinces tend to be most receptive to your particular trade and work history.

Confirm your trade carries Red Seal endorsement, then pick the province that best fits your experience and where demand is strongest.
8–16 weeks
Submit your Pakistani trade documents to the provincial authority for an equivalency assessment and a gap analysis.

Red Seal runs in stages, and how long the whole thing takes depends on your trade, the province, and whether you already have Canadian work experience. From first assessment to endorsement, one to two years is common.
Provincial assessment fees, exam fees, work-permit fees, and any required training all go to the relevant authorities. Our fee reflects the trade and the province, because the coordination load varies enormously between them, and you get that figure at the eligibility assessment.
